But Pat's idea covers all of New Albany, she wants everyone to "adopt" a corner and make sure it remains clean and maintained.
Several people met at the corner of Spring and Pearl Saturday at 12:00 the location was the parking lot which was covered with leaves and trash. Some of us brought garbage bags and rakes to assist with the cleanup. Those of us who had selected a corner gave Pat the info, the rest will notify her later.
My corner is at West 7th and Commerce, where the children wait for their school buses. There was a large ditch along the Commerce side. We called the Street Dept. and the problem was solved immediately. But it still needs to be kept clean and grass needs to be planted.
There will be a meeting on tomorrow evening 4/22 at 7:00 at the Realtors Bldg. in Clarksville on Lewis & Clark Blvd. I urge everyone to attend and adopt a corner. Following is a list of contacts to help with maintenance.

It would be even more wonderful if these Realtors put for the same efforts with their rental properties.
My questions about this whole Adopt a Corner thing is, aren't most of the corners in New Albany on private property, and those that aren't are city/govm't property so shouldn't they be taking care of the corners?
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any and all effort being done to take care and clean up New Albany, but corners aren't near as big of worry to me and many others as dilapidated and neglected rental properties.
I didn't think about rental inspection myself. You are right that any effort helps but this should not replace the rental inspections. We have a ton of dilapidated properties in the west end that need to be fixed or torn down. I will continue to try to form a neighborhood association and push for something to be done about these properties. They are a safety hazard as well as an eyesore.
People should be taking care of their own corners as should the city. But as you know, a lot of times they don't. That is why I got involved with this.
Good luck with your neighborhood association. Hopefully as many people that grumble will actually show up to your meetings!
Harrison and other landlords are organizing to lobby against an inspection program. They are already doing so. Harrison compared rental inspection to the Gestapo.
This adopt a corner business is a part of the PR effort to thwart inspections.
I have heard that too, Bluegill but I need help cleaning up my neighborhood.
I firmly believe in rental inspections so Ms. Harrison & I will have to disagree on that subject.
I was not able to make it to the April 22nd meeting but I heard that Ron Hartman and Pam Badger were there. I need to get their attention and this seems like a good way to do it.
