Today the country lost a kind and gracious Congresswoman, Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
I had the privilege of meeting Congresswoman Jones this summer when she accompanied Chelsea Clinton to New Albany. She was a special person and a friend to all Americans.

She was a great leader.
I was devasted to hear of the sudden death of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones yesterday.
She was one of the greatest advocates for the American people.
When we first met the Congresswoman, as she talked about was sitting on the Ways and Means Committee to help those who were always left out.
Her "can do" attitude was impeckable. She left an inpression which I will never forget.
She will be sadly missed. She touched each and everyone of us.
May she find her inner peace with God.

Freedom of Speech (blog) has a beautiful tribute to Congresswoman Jones.
To look up and see a beautiful, intelligent but humble woman, sure of herself and respectful of others was an inspiration to me. Her smile would light up a room. None of that "I'm better than you" taint ever attached itself to her. She loved people and she loved the Lord. She was not ashamed of her religious beliefs and she lived the life she always talked about.
Tubbs was an inspirational women.
The womens movement has lost a great advocate and the United States Congress has lost a magnificent voice of the people.

"Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a true American hero and inspiring leader, having spent a lifetime breaking barriers, and standing up for her values.
Her infectious energy, enthusiasm and passion uplifted us all.
After making history as the first African American women elected to Congress from Ohio, this congresswoman worked to expand the rights of all Americans.
I will never forget her infectious humor and that thousand watt smile.

She is also an inspiration to me and a great symbol of the progress our country has made in recognizing the equality of every human being, regardless of race, religion, gender, or any other factor.
She had a glow about her that made each and everyone of us around her light up. She was loved and will be sorely missed.
As a Hillary Clinton supporter, I am so grateful to Stephanie for her enthusiastic and courageous campaigning on Hillary's behalf. It could not have been easy with pressure being exerted on her from all sides, but she was loyal and dynamic. She exemplifies post-racial politics. She chose her candidate and did not waver.

Leadership--the willingness to do what you believe is right, regardless of the consequences. Tubbs Jones was a leader, and she showed it by backing Hillary, in the face of intense political pressure.
She had the ability to work with ordinary people but also have the highest understanding of legal principles of government and know how to apply them to the everyday needs of real people?
She made the best cornbread dressing I ever ate. See I was that ordinary person she cared about. And a women too boot.
