HAVE A LITTLE RESPECT

I am extremely upset over an article published in the Tribune 11/26/08 concerning our Township Assessor, Barbara Sillings. There was a special meeting of the Floyd County Council to determine Ms. Sillings future.

Since the majority of voters decided to eliminate her office she has been in limbo concerning her status. What bothered me about the article was the way she was portrayed as either a petulant child or a greedy politician. She is neither. Barbara Sillings is an honorable person who would not draw a paycheck for doing nothing.

Larry McAllister, the President of the council was quoted as saying, "I know she wants to work because she wants to run for office again." He went on to say, "I know she would not take a salary and not work, her political future would be in jeopardy." Please, Mr. McAllister, I don't think you meant that the way it sounded. That would imply that Ms. Sillings would draw a salary and not work if it were not her intention to run for office in the future.

Another disturbing part of the article was how Ms. Sillings and Ms. Egge were told to work things out. We are talking about two office holders here, not two kids on a playground. Ms. Sillings and Ms. Egge are adults, Mr. McAllister. They will be able to work together and get through these next two years with with a positive attitude.

I respect Ms. Sillings a great deal. She handled her loss election night with dignity and grace and will continue to act the same way during the rest of her term in office.

Silling and Egge working together will never fly.

She is entitled to two years salary, and this is happening all over the state. If I was Mrs. Silling I would take them to court.

2 much bad blood between the two. Barb is a good person and a good worker. She always felt the "reassessments" were not quite performed correctly (lol)!

Keep your chin up Barb. Larry, you know the two do not like each other - funny guy that Larry!

You are saying some are paying MORE taxes than their neighbor, who has the same type of house?!!! How does someone find out if their reassessment is what it is supposed to be? Are "audits" needed on the reassessments? Does this have something to do with the "good ole boy" system? Say it isn't so!

IT IS SO!!!!!!!

Off topic but I just spoke with Dana Fenley and what Randy Smith has posted on NAC is a lie. She never told him that nor did she say what he has quoted her as saying. Somemore of their lies!!!!!!!!

Sillings should have never lost her job. Like Shope said everydog has it's day and be careful it might come back and bite you in the long run. Brenda Egge is a b$tch and deserves anything she gets from this.

I agree. County Council did not have the guts to vote because Citizens for Accountability had well represented all the citizens of New Albany. The place was packed with citizens supporting this group. It was truly a win for the working class.

Malysz stomped out like a bully, finally he did not get his way. Maybe this will be a new trend for 2009.

Heard Egge was downright UGLY when it came to talks about absorbing Sillings into her office. Nothing new on that front, either.

Stomp, Carl, Stomp.

I see where Roger is going to be PAID to write a column for the TRIBUNE! What is happening to the hometown newspaper? Who is running the newspaper and calling the shots? How desperate are they? I wonder how many more people will cancel their subscriptions?! Anybody up to starting a new newspaper?

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST?
WE COULD HIRE JEFF ROUDENBUSH. ANYONE GOT HIS PHONE NUMBER?

Anonymous said...

Anyone but Baylor, how about Erik? At least he writes the truth.

Hey, do you think Roger will get free advertisements in the paper for all of his businesses? If he writes about his businesses in his columns, then they are PAYING him to do his own advertising. Looks like Roger knows how to use people for his own profit.

Are you for real? Surely you jest? Roger would not stoop to that level. Shame on you!

Too funny.

In defense of my buddy Roger-
#1 Why would he buy advertisement when he could ??? the Mayor?
#2 Will he promote the Rustic Gentleman Frog?
#3 Will he be pushing for tax abatements on empty buildings downtown?
#4 Will this increase subscriptions or cancel them?
#5 How many pints will this cost the Don?
#6 Does my buddy Roger have a real job?

Maybe the TRIBUNE should hire Jeff Roudenbush. He would be an excellent investigative reporter. New Albany desperately needs one!

Brenda Egge and her other half Linda Shirley will get their day in court, if either one of them or anyone in their office runs in 2 years for any position. They will be beaten by anyone else on the ballot.

The Tribune reporters that we now have don't have the backbone to write the truth about our political world in Floyd County, it is like they are afraid to make a phony office holder mad by writing the truth.
I believe Roger will be great, and Jeff Roudenbush would also be great, because they call it the way they see it.

The only thing Roger sees is profit.

After all this time has passed, I simply must say that BARB SILLINGS is still quite a lady. She has ALWAYS made certain that ANY job she has taken on was completed with perfection. I would trust Mrs. Sillings with ANYTHING I own. I am happy that Mrs. Sillings is happy now. She's no longer involved in any way with the SEWER Dept. ;-)
