As you probably know, the city council passed the budget. The Courier Journal and New Albany Confidential have all of the details so I won't repeat them.
As for myself, I'm just glad we have this behind us. Now that we know what we have, or don't have to work with, we can try to solve all of the rest or our fair city's problems.
Readers, what do you think?

There was a comment made on another blog concerning the west end of NA. The area from West Main to 111 was referred to as the "porn district". This really bothers me, not so much that it was said but the fact that it between the adult book store and now this strip club, the west end is going in the wrong direction.
The neighborhood association "Friends and Familes of the West End" is trying to make our area a cleaner and safer place to live. Guess we need to work harder. Looks like the adult industry already has a foothold, we need to "nip, nip it in the bud" as Barney Fife used to say. All joking aside, this is a bad situation.
I agree with your comment, Shirley. Strange how England and others folded their tent when Keith drafted the adult ordinance because of the bad publicity and his future political career back in whatever year(s) Overton was in.
What a shame.
Back to your posting, lol! No, I do not think it is over. I think they are putting off the inevitable. I think we are seeing an economy the likes none of us have seen and the City and in some cases the County, are not being proactive enough for me.
The City needs to cut the hell out of the extra jobs which were never approved by Council because their budgets weren't approved. All the raises, perks, you name it -- let 'em walk to work. Thanks for the vent space.
Our budget is not behind us at all. Watch and see what they ask for next year. I see new resolutions being brought before our council come January!
Shirley
It was said in jest by one of the posters. I think all of us at the other blog are fairly disgusted with how it came down with the 2 Horseshoes, which isn't anyone's idea of a good and/or needed phenomenon.
I THINK IT'S TIME TO VOTE THESE IDIOTS OUT OF OFFICE.
JUST MY OPINION

The previous poster had it right. Your duly elected representative in the hallowed halls of the council chambers could have/ should have done something, anything, even if for just show to oppose this publicly.
As far as being the porn district, at least the west end has not had raids on "massage parlors" giving out "happy endings" for another couple of bucks!
Can anyone enlighten us as to what is going on at State & Main with the car lot there? Rumors of another parking garage involving the car lot and where the SpeakEasy was are involved. True?

Nope. Another car lot, possibly with some attention on older classics.
While driving down Main St. yesterday I noticed that a certain "antique shop" was vacant with a "for rent" sign in the window.
Good job New Albany
The antique shop didn't close. They moved over to Bank Street next to Little Chef.
Yep, there'll be many people who see the vacant antique shop and conclude that the furor over the owner's racist comments led to its demise.
Not entirely true, but for once, the desired impression.
The mayor is the reason New Albany is in this mess, no one is watching the store. Or the manager of the store.
David Ward is MOT a racist. I personally know him and his wife. Anyone who doesn't agree with Omama is labeled a racist and if you don't agree with Baylor your called worse. Proud to be labeled one of the little people of New Albany.
typo, "NOT" a racist
Ward said that he was voting for McCain because he wasn't black. He did not say that he had disagreements with Obama on policy.
What part of "not black" don't you get?
If the rumor not true, why is the deputy Mayor trying to negotiate with the owner? Seems City owned properties back up to the aforementioned car lot and the now defunct SpeakEasy. Are you saying the City is opening a new car lot with say, limo service for the government? Sarcasm will get me no where, I know. But,,,don't try and pull our legs, lol!
