IMPORTANT EVENT

This Thursday 1/15/09 Dr. Rob Stone of Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan will make a presentation on single payer health care during the City Council's work session at 6:00PM.

Councilman John Gonder will introduce a resolution endorsing HR676 during the regular meeting. Health care is such an important issue especially now since so many people are losing their jobs and therefore their health insurance also.

Even if a company offers COBRA coverage, it is so expensive that most people cannot afford it.

Also, Mayor England will be giving his State of the City address, so it promises to be a very interesting evening.

Please make an effort to attend this work session and meeting.

Update: Mayor England has postponed his State of the City address until the first council meeting in February. His recovery is taking longer than he expected. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Today's paper reported that the Mayor's address will be delayed until February.

Thanks Roger. I saw that after I published the article.

THINK ABOUT IT, WHAT CAN ENGLAND REPORT IN HIS STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS. WE GOT A RAISE AND YOU DIDN'T.

So what has England accomplished in his first year? hmmm...let's see:

* Raises
* two new cars
* none eventful trip to China
* greenway being trashed
* sweetheart deals made for the police and fire departments
* purchase of Baptist Tabernacle
* Industrial Park
* ignore a memo from DLGF to stay within the 2007 Budget
* sidewalks on Spring Street Hill
* 3 personal vacations
* hired unqualified people
* put taxpayers in more debt by committing is to another bond
* Robbing Peter to pay Paul
* selective billing, selective service, selective tickets
* promises made, promises broken
* made political appointments
* denied connection to the men's club
* threaten taxpayers
* paved portions of State Street
* parking permits for downtown residence
* Mayor not in his office 3/4 of the time

Have I forgotten anything?

Good points you make Mr. Anonymous.

"you sure hit the nail on the head anonymous 8:57"

But you forgot a few more things:

1. EMC contract
2. fixing tickets
3. taking street department employees off route, to help with Neighborhood Ass. clean ups
4. secret meetings
5. breaking several state and local laws
6. not enforcing local ordinances

I know there is more, let me think on this issue.

Great points. I personally think he should resign, he's a crook and we all know it.

Off topic, who is Roger calling a bully?

Is that not the pot calling the kettle black?

Has he forgotten New Albany belongs to all of us.

The downtown will fail for many reasons. Look at the hundreds of thousands of my tax dollars being wasted downtown.

Maybe someone needs to play the tape for Smoth and Baylor and prosecute those who tried to take Councilman Price out.

Redistricting is over Mr. Baylor, you lost and you cost taxpayers money we did not have.

So who is the real bully?

Thanks for reading my blog.

Roger

Mr. Baylor, is it correct you cannot get a loan for your new brewery and that your upset Council President Coffey does not support the city backing your loan?

DNA and UEZ does not belong to just you, what about other businesses?

The New Albanian said...

No, it isn't true. You should (a) try doing your homework, and (b) stop being an anonymous coward who spreads rumors that aren't factual.

At least I'll know it's you when you come in for a beer. You'll be the one with a bag over your head.

The taproom should be open in February, and the brewery should be producing in June.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to respond, Shirley. It's too bad so many users of your blog can't tell the truth.

The New Albanian said...

And while I'm at it, kindly note that it isn't about me at all.

It's about the council president issuing threats and proving his unfitness for office.

Do any of you support the council president's actions?

If so, why?

If not, why?

Discuss.

(this should be entertaining)

This disrespect shown by the "Council" did not just start with a certain group naming theirselves "Progressives".

There were other taxpayers arguing with the very issues your group worry with and about.

David Huckleberry had every right to get up and ask the Council what the "hey" was going on with his "monies". Other people argued how even the Council Agenda could not be followed properly with taxpayers speaking after City Officials (so we know what the H**L they're going to say); but sadly, you derided, attacked, made fun of; some people were actually visited on personal property and intimidated (and I'm not insinuating it's you).

One day you will find out IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS SITTING UP THERE. It is the same old BS, just a different day.

I will even give you the point there may have been some taxpayers "grandstanding" for whatever their purpose; it's still their monies and they "hah" got five minutes (or less) - been down to two minutes before, so

Let's get it on.

(a) we did our homework
(b) then why did England and Malysz want the council to do your new brewery a loan?
(c) Why would you be dumb enough to invest downtown when businesses open and close before the year is completed?
(d) why do you attack everyone who does not agree with you?
(e) do you even know what a bully is? Look in the mirror and then read the garbage you write.

You sound like the chosen one, HOPE for downtown and let's hope Obama makes it through his four years.

HOPE does not pay the bills folks.

Great points anonymous 2:47. But add this on your list;

Since I did not vote for Barack H. Obama why am I a racist?

The New Albanian said...

(b) then why did England and Malysz want the council to do your new brewery a loan?

Because it didn't happen, that's why. You're lying, just like Dan Coffey lied today in the newspaper. You may be confused, but chances are you're doing it intentionally.

You want to see the business plan, then come talk to me. But take off the paper sack around your head. It's unbecoming.

Anonymous said...

(b) your right...it ALMOST happen, but Dan Coffey stopped it.

As far as Dan Coffey goes, he's not my favorite council member, BUT, your group trying to take him out is bulls*it.

Again, you continue to attack whom ever does not agree with you, right Roger?

I do not have to see your plan, because I know what a liar you are.

Your out of your league, and besides tell everyone how RICH of Richo's took off and then tell everyone how you got the place.

The New Albanian said...

(b) your right...it ALMOST happen, but Dan Coffey stopped it.

I suppose you're the same anonymous coward who used to say that Mayor Garner was going to give me a million dollars to build a brewery.

Oops ... never happened, did it?

As long as you continue to peddle lies on this point, there's really nothing to discuss, but I will say this. Bring evidence to the table to prove your tall tale, and I'll have a chat with you, and you can even wear your mask.

The difference between the two of us is while my life and business pursuits have been documented and remain open for all to see, you've nothing better to do than attack me anonymously. I may be right, and I may be wrong, but I'm me.

And: I enjoy the way you insert the asterisk so as to evade Mrs Baird's warnings against profanity. Here's a hint: Try finding a real word.

Do you deny the fact that England and Malysz was proposing a loan for your brewery? Come on Roger, we all know how tights the banks are. You have a cash flow problem or should I say you've over extended yourself.

I do not need to meet with you, I have all the facts and unlike you I do my homework.

Tell Rich the next time he calls hey from me.

The New Albanian said...

Do you deny the fact that England and Malysz was proposing a loan for your brewery?

Permit me to introduce you to elementary logic. Since the event you describe never took place, the burden of proof is on your shoulders. Do you have anything whatever to support your position other than fiction and innuendo? If so, kindly produce it. If not, then you're looking increasingly foolish -- but no worries, you're anonymous, which means you don't have to answer for your lies.

Come on Roger, we all know how tights the banks are. You have a cash flow problem or should I say you've over extended yourself.

You can say what you like. You're entieled to your own opinions, but unfortunately, not to your own facts. We have an equipment loan through the SBA and the remainder through a local bank. It certainly took longer than we expected, and it would have been nice to use EDIT money to subsidize us, but that would have been just as mistaken as using it to subsidize the sewer rates.

As a business, we're surviving, and if we were over-extended, it is doubtful that the loan would have been approved.

And, finally, why don't YOU say hello to Rich? I've no idea where he is.

Now, run along to underachieve somewhere and leave the rest of us out of your spiralling self-loathing.
