OTHER PEOPLES' IDEAS

After I got my computer fixed (again) I started reading the various blogs around town yesterday and today. I know it's obvious but we have several intelligent and thoughtful people in our little town. These are some of the great ideas that I "lifted" from other blogs.

GONDER FOR NEW ALBANY AT-LARGE

John has a good idea for using our EDIT funds. He wants the city to purchase some of those abandoned buildings along Charlestown Rd. including the Colonial Manor shopping center and offering the properties to developers for REdevelopment. With the guidance of the Plan Commission they would be required to REdevelope in a way most beneficial to the entire community in order to make a profit. The EDIT funds would then be returned to the city. This seems like a win-win to me. The EDIT funds will be used by developers anyway, they might as well re-use the empty buildings rather than just build new ones.

NA CONFIDENTIAL

Lloyd Wimp has a collection of pictures of trash just sitting by the curb waiting for the city to pick up. Our street department employees said that if we bag up the yard waste they will take care of it, many of us are still waiting. He suggested that the city provide dumpsters for people to take their trash so it won't be left on the streets. The city has not even picked up the yard waste from their own tree trimming in certain areas. What are we paying for?

OUR HISTORY IN NEW ALBANY

Ted Fulmore has a great quote from Mark Twain describing a river town which could have been New Albany. He also has pictures of the old wharf complete with places to tie up the old steamwheeler. He also has a list of future "happenings" in the next few months, including walking tours of our historic district. Check them out.

JOHN'S MUSINGS ABOUT WHATEVER

Rev. Manzo has a wonderful article about personal responsibility, from individuals to our businesses. He said that corporate responsibility is equally vital as personal responsibility. He quotes Genesis with the verse about Cain after he killed Abel. "Am I my brother's keeper?" Rev. Manzo responds, yes. Everyone should remember that and as he said "It is often fashionable to blame the poor on being poor but most often this was not a personal choice". How true.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

The author of this article asked Hoosiers to attend a revolt at the State House in Indianapolis. They are protesting the idea of removing the caps from property tax. It promises to be a historic event. I am sure it will be. I wish them well in their endeavor. Maybe if enough people yell loud enough they will be heard.

I can't add much to these ideas. They all seem to have a theme of activism and personal responsibility though, which is what we need. As someone said the other day we need to get off of our collective butts and do something.

Surely the Evening News & The Tribune DOES-NOT pay for Roger's personal agenda each Thursday? My point is to show you what you should be doing every time you read this so called item of news: discerning the facts from bullshit.
Why not skip the rhetoric and get to a meanful pinch line. Nothing like another educated fool in New Albany.

The New Albanian said...

Ask me to my face, leaving the coward's mask behind, and I'll tell you how much they pay me.

You won't do that, will you?

Shirley,

As a member of Citizens for Accountability, you have to be passionate about changing something, from cleaning up your neighborhood, to making change in local government, you can get involved.

Perhaps "get involved" has become a clique catch-phrase, but everyday, ordinary people are changing their towns.

Citizens for Accountability aren't superheros or politically powerful people, we are individuals like you with a sense of duty and call, willing to take one step in the right direction.

We must be doing something right we stopped the LOIT Tax from being Englands slush fund.

That why I joined.

Encourage others, family, friends, readers and neighbors to call Senators,Congressmen, Governors and local elected officials about your issues. These elected officials have phone numbers, e-mail addresses and contact information available so that citizens like you and us can contact them regarding the issues you care about most. Trust me, we have NO problem getting up in their face either.

I sure hope I haven't been blackballed.

I'm a long time reader of Freedom Of Speech. They are true activist from the get go. They fight for the little people. Some people attack them, but most people love what they say.
My thoughts on activism is not a pop culture fad, something that's bought and sold instead of giving to humanity.
What separates the wannabes from the little people, they are local changers.
Why I support Freedom Of Speech: a little thing called consciousness. They have a passion rooted in a cause; something that is greater than themselves.
Do you complain about the mayor, council, police and fire?
Do you complain about trash in the street and etc.?
These very things makes us insane are usually the things FOS is passionate about.

Hit the Tribune Archives: LOIT Tax, Chris Morris on Citizens for Accountability if you must.

The New Albanian said...

I must, and I did. All that turned up was an article about the county council and LOIT that quoted Ms. Denhart as being in charge of a group called Citizens for Accountability.

Neither this alleged truth (unfortunately accepted by the reporter at face value) or the previous advocacy of the Freedom of Speech blog tells us anything about the group or how to become a member.

Thanks for the tip, though. It refreshed my memory of how cowardly the conty council was on this issue.

Jackie,

Thank you for your interest. I also contact my Senators and Representatives as often as I can. I belong to a group called Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Care Plan (HCHP for short). It is a group of citizens who support John Conyer's bill, HR676, which calls for universal health care. The leader is an ER physician from Bloomington, Dr. Rob Stone. The website is www.hchp.info/

I also support Citizens for Accountability. It is so inspirational to see what ordinary people can do if they speak out. Is there a website for Citizens... yet? I am sure other people may be interested in joining also. Maybe a spokesperson could disclose their address or email. I would be glad to do whatever I can to get the word out.

Congratulations Roger on your fine spelling of words that were never meant to be transliterated into English on your blog and Guest Column anyway. (I cancelled my newspaper subscription. I'm sick of your propaganda, and you've just lost all credibility. The Tribune is consistenly to far to the right for me when it comes to Mayor Doug England.) You really are a genius for our time. I will indeed think twice before I encourage you to spit anymore of your pedantic "superiority" and misanthropic rage all over this board.

ps. Thank you Shirley, citizens have a right to free speech too - it's not just about speech, it's about what they're doing, which is killing our town.

Please, it's time to identify with the oppressed, (little people) not the oppressors.

God Bless America and free speech.

The New Albanian said...

Thanks for the compliment. Even you are bright enough to know that free speech implies both rights and a responsibilities. You uphold the former and ignore the latter. That's your issue, not anyone else's, isn't it?

Funny how I ask a simple question about the Citizens group, and no one will answer it. You guys are making me laugh.

Has the so called Citizens for Accountability ever believed an item charged by the city to be a reasonable cost for a necessary government expense? The writing was so incoherent it was difficult to follow, but a post from last year appeared to suggest that tires for police cars was an outrageous expense. Should the city get rid of the computers and just send smoke singals to save costs? What other BRILLIANT ideas on governance does FOS have?

I mean really folk, you’re going to have low big contract for legal work? Are you @#$%ing serious? Do you want the cheapest attorney doing our legal work? Do you really think the cheapest is going to be someone other than the drunkest, laziest and/or least intelligent attorney in town? When drunk my-cousin Vinny defends the city in a split in fall case, how much money is that going to save the city when the jury awards Darryl Isaacs $20 million dollars and the city has to raise MY taxes to pay it. What other BRILLIANT ideas on governance does FOS have?

“England’s corrupt,” “England’s slush fund” blah blah blah, blah blah blah. What PROOF do you have of any of this? Show us or shut up! If you have real proof, the kind of proof that will hold up in court, call the FBI. They have a unit that deals with public corruption of state and local officials. If you don’t have any PROOF, then why the hell do you keep ranting this rant? It’s because you’re either mentally ill or have an unrelated axe to grind or both. Either way, without PROOF, you’re advocating that a city should be run on gossip, innuendo, falsehoods, not facts. What other BRILLIANT ideas on governance does FOS have?

Rogers, why do you continue to beat your head against the wall talking to this split personality megalomaniac whose delusions of grander are pumped up by lying (about professorships) plagiarizing and some truly bizarre sense of government accounting? Since FOS “staff” are so lacking in basic high school grammar that they cannot (even with the aid of word processing) write even with remotely correct syntax, is anyone supposed to believe that it’s written by a college professor?

The New Albanian said...

Why? She/he/it makes me laugh.

Where is their webpage? Where are they in the phone book? Who is their staff? Where is their corporate office? Do I just not know the secret handshake? They're so secret, they're like the CIA and KGB. Maybe James Bond is a member? Is bigfoot a member? Aliens?

Or maybe it’s just that they don’t show up in an internet search because Google and Yahoo on part of Doug England’s vast conspiracy. I think I saw them in an X-files movie.

Shirley, please stop allowing this trash to be posted.

Sorry, I was laughing so hard I had to blow my nose, using the bubblegum wrapper that doubles as the CFA charter for a hankie.

Funny you should bring these questions to our attention. I was considering asking about the percentage rate on your mortgage, then realized that I can't, because you're so anonymously concerned about the truth.

But, because I'm all about the truth and not anonymous, I'll humor you in spite of your cowardice.

What interest rate did you get on the $50,000 from Horseshoe?

A good one, available to any company that meets the criteria and is approved for the loan. I'll tell you the exact amount as soon as you tell me who you are.

How much money did you get from DNA and UEZ for your brewery?

None. You seem fixated on this, but I'm terribly sorry. It's zilch, nichevo, nada.

Since your in the Zone, do you also qualify under IC 6-1.1-12-22 through AC 6-1.1-12-24, for a maximum annual deduction of $60,000 to $300,000?

I'm aware of zone incentives, because I'm on the board. When the building owner applied for a facade grant, I recused myself -- something DMBenedetti can't grasp. Other than that, we've not applied for anything else yet. I'll let Shirley know first thing we do.

Would you like to tell us out of all the new businesses in New Albany, who helped uoi obtained that loan through Hoeshoe and please inform Shirley's readers just who happens to be sitting on this Horseshoe board?

Hoeshoe? Sounds obscene.

We filled out the application and made our presentation to the Horseshoe board and representatives of 1SI. I believe the Horseshoe web site lists the board members: Ask at staff@horseshoefoundation.org

In addition to NABC, PTG Sillicones also was approved for a loan from the revolving fund.

As for who "helped" us, with any of this ... well, I'm sure you have non-factual innunendo to toss onto the fire, so feel free.

I'm going to have a beer, watch a Marx Brothers flick, and think of all the little people in the rear view mirror.

I seems like “Citizens for Accountability” does not itself want to be accountable.

They blog anonymously. They don’t have a website. They won’t tell us where their office is. They won’t let us join. They don’t tell us who their members are.

Should we believe they’re “fighting for the little people”?

If we don’t know who they are, how do we know their true agendas? Are they a bunch of multimillionaires who just want their taxes cut and don’t care about anything else? Are they business people with specific business pending before the city? Are they lunatics blogging from somewhere outside of New Albany? We don’t know! We ask. They don’t tell.

They don’t tell us who they are. They don’t provide facts to support their assertions. It’s all anonymous. Who can an anonymous person be accountable?

An American Dr. not to be outdone, says you guys are way behind. We recently took a man with NO brains out of Illinois, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work!

Is this really the best you can do? You really think the current economic situation was caused more by Obama than by Bush?

Let us not forget that Bush had eight years to balance the budget and he did not. Officially, the recession began over one year ago, before Obama won his first primary. Obama’s win was made easy because of the plunging stock market and increased foreclosures before the election. Does FOS think Obama had more influence on the national economy than did Bush before the election? What was professorship in, Political Pseudo-Science?

Republicans are crying for "fiscal responsibility" and criticizing Obama for large projected deficits. I would have sympathy for their arguments if the Republicans had taken meaningful steps to balance the budget when they controlled both the Whitehouse and Congress just a couple years ago. Hypocrites? No, they’re just political opportunists who think American’s have extraordinarily short memories. Well, apparently some Americans do, including one self-styled “Professor” who authors Freedom of Speech.

Since CFA President Vicki Denhart is unavailable, let me attempt to answer the questions posted here.

1. Does CFA have a position on CM Benedetti's repeated failure to recuse herself from her brother's agenda items?

No. She’s on our side so we have a double standard.

2. Can anyone provide me with contact information for Citizens for Acountability?

We have no office and work out of Ms. Denhart’s living room.

3. Please educate us on how CFA saved $2 million. Did it really happen or is this as true as the alien abductions?

We didn’t have much to do with it, since our President is a nutcase and everyone in local government knows it. However, we try to claim credit for the LOIT not yet kicking in. We say “$2 million” saved since we place absolutely no value on the new services the tax would allow the city and county to provide. We call is waste because we place no value on improved parks for our citizens, we place no value on additional code enforcement, we place no value on cultural amenities, we place no value on sidewalks, bike lanes, farmers markets, and we place no value on economic development, even though that in the long run will increase the tax base. We place no value on these things so you shouldn’t either. Anyone who thinks salaries for code enforcement officers, or money for economic development or parks has value is corrupt. Anyone who thinks new services afforded by the LOIT have value should be investigated by the FBI and CIA. We hate them people.

4. Are low bid lawyers an answer to help the city save money?

Yes. We don’t think the city should ever issue a bond. Also, we view compliance with state and federal regulations and an unnecessary intrusion of outsiders on our way of doing things. However, our primary objection to Mr. Gibson’s contract is that Mayor England wants it. We don’t like Mayor England’s policies and we don’t like Mayor England’s vision for the city. Therefore, we will oppose him on everything, whether reasonable or otherwise.

5. What PROOF does Citizens for Accountability’s one member have that fraud exists in the Mayor’s office?

We have no proof. We do not like Mayor England. New Albany never has had a mayor we do like. We are suspicious of all politicians except those politicians who only criticize other politicians with more vision. Since we do not like him, we anonymously spread rumors about Mayor England. Also, we created a Blog called Freedom of Speech to help spread the rumors. We do not fact check. We are anonymous because we do not want to be sued for defamation. Defamation is our primary strategy. We would use facts but we have none.

OK, now it truly is official: FOS knows nothing about Finance.

Are we to believe being a controller and being a financial advisory is the same thing? They are as different as being a bank teller and a stock broker. Controllers specialize in accounting. Financial advisors specialize in finance. Accounting and finance are two entirely different fields.

Controllers do not structure deals. A controller does not have the expertise to tell you whether a deal structured a certain way has more or less risk than structured a different way. A controller does not have the expertise to tell you whether other financing options are available and better for the city. Controllers cannot tell you what the current market is like for various types of bonds. That’s not what controllers do. That’s what financial advisers do

Financial advisors help you determine the most cost effective way to structure transactions. Once the transaction is get up, after the strategic decisions have been made, the controller, the account, makes sure it is implemented within those parameters.

Financial advisors save the city in the long run because they help determine which of the many, many complicated financing options costs the least money. If you leave decisions like that to people inexperienced in finance (I said finance, not accounting), you have someone making your decisions who does not understand the nuances of finance such as the time value of money and portfolio management.

From FOS: “These two amounts give Mr. Carroll $51,450 per year.”

That’s far less than most financial advisors make and is far less than the extra money the city will needlessly spend by making poor strategic financing decisions. It’s half what Jeffersonville pays its financial advisor? Do you think it’s because Jeff is twice as corrupt as New Albany?

From FOS: “His business sense is almost laughable! No one has to have a business degree to screw up as bad as England.”

You think New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg, a self made multibillionaire, doesn’t use very, very expensive financial advisors? Businesspeople know that paying well for good advice is a whole lot cheaper in the long run than making important decisions without good advise. They don’t use low bid advisors.

Just like when it advocated low bid attorneys, FOS advocates being penny wise and pound foolish.

By the way, CFA still has not answered as to whether low-bid attorneys really are a good idea?

There seems to be more questions than answers.

I agree this is a good question. I'm waiting to see when the common council will redistrict. Will FOS entertain us with a "Professor's" insights on this?

Roger,

The streets do not need to be paved. New Albany spent most its history with dirt roads and we got along just fine. When we can go 100 years without any pavements at all, why is it all of a sudden so improtant that fix every gapping pothole on every block? In fact, New Albany had a higher population back when we had dirt roads. Why do you have accountability?

How many code enforcement officers do we need?

Newport, KY has seen tremendous growth and revival. Newport has less than half our population. Newport recently reduced its number of enforcement officers to seven. Adjusted for population, that would be 15 code enforcement officers for New Albany. I'm not saying we need 15. I'm saing 2 is way too few unless we're going to have a city full of trashed properties and a city fit only for trash people. But from reading FOS's writings, I guess no code enforcement officers would make her feel most at home.

Look at the boarded up houses in SEJ and on the West End. Look at the trash everywhere. There is absolutely no reason why it should look like that. It's not written anywhere in stone that New Albany cannot be a beautiful city full of beautiful homes with beautiful yards. That's only written on FOS.

How many code enforcement officers do we need?

You are right Shitley, you know Brad did not write all that.

Shirley, I doubt whoever keeps misspells your name “Shitley” or “Shittey” is so consistently doing this as an accident. It sounds like someone on here just wants to call names. Removing the ability to post anonymously would stop this nonsense.

Call me weird, but I do not accept anonymous blog posts as PROOF.

FOS's most recent "proof" is comical. Since when is the mere fact that a man is paid to do a job in itself evidence of corruption or mismanagement?

EXHIBIT "B"

* The $36,000 is in addition to the $15,450 yearly that Mr. Carroll receives for sitting on Sewer Board and Stormwater Board.

So what? The man's paid to do a job. I'm still waiting on the proof of the illegal deal that's going to cause the FBI to break down the Mayor's door.

Also, earlier I asked why a group purportedly concerned with spending by government be concerned with a loan funded by the non-governmental Horseshoe Foundation? Is CFA so confused that it thinks Roger’s loan was government funded? Sounds like it.

Maybe "Brad" had it right.

Anonymous said...

FOS notes as "proof":

IC 36-9-23-4 (a)-(2) The legislative body may not appoint any paid or unpaid municipal officer or employee to the board.

Good to know. So why is the city council trying to dictate who the mayor appoints and how is this code section relevant to any alleged corruption or mismanagement?

Anonymous said...

How about Citizens for Accountability advocate for some accountability from our local slumlords? Slumlords violate New Albany ordinances daily and on a massive scale. However, no one on the city council or at Freedom of Speech seems to care.

Anonymous said...

just ask him or Garry if they know about the group Citizens for Accountability?

I asked the Mayor. He does NOT know about a group called Citizens for Accountability. He only knows of a loan nutcase who likes to pretend she has some sort of broad support in the community.

We suggest you contact your Council member and ask the hard questions.

I'm for accountability. I beleive city officials should know their place. I would ask Mr. Coffey a hard question but I don't want to hear his angry nonsense about why he thinks he should micromanage the city. He's not the city's executive. He might understand why things happened the way they do in this town if he stopped making threats and started listening.

Never doubt that a group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

I agree 100%. But it usually doesn't happen when they make up "facts" and spread false rumors.

Also, one Vicki does not make plural citizens. A split personality does not make Vicki more than one citizen. I wish she were as committed to the truth as she was to grinding axes irresponsibly.

Anonymous said...

Shirley,

I have not answered the questions. That “Brad” was not one of our members. Now, let me tell you why I have not answered.

I have not posted here lately because I have been thinking. I care about this city and I want to see that it is well run. I want our local politicians to be careful in their spending and to not raise taxes. I attend the city council meetings and have harassed the poor city employees at the controller’s office. I did it because I care.

Maybe I cared too much. Not that my goals were wrong. I will never ever apologize for fighting for the little people. However, sometimes I was over zealous in my approach. I was not careful in checking facts and I was too quick to point my finger.

Yes, I confess. I was wrong sometimes. I created the Freedom of Speech blog. I am the supposed Professor Eric even thought I do not have a degree in political science. I am the only member of Citizens for Accountability. I also have posted many of the most hateful posts on this blog. Some of those hateful posts have been made by “members” of CFA that I have invented because I know support for my noble cause is so crucial. I get so worked up but I confess sometimes I really do not well understand the law or public finance or government. I want to. I try to. But it still does not make sense and I am jealous of those who are more eloquent than me. After reading the posts here, I have started to feel bad for my past actions.

I’ve been sitting here in the dark all night drinking. I’ve been drinking Roger’s beer. You know, much to my surprise, it’s not that bad. I might splurge every once in a while and buy a pint. I like what Roger has done with his building downtown. Now I feel sort of bad for criticizing him so much when he has worked so hard to support this city he obviously loves so much.

Also, I’m going to go on a sabbatical of sorts. I’m not leaving down. No, the little people need me to keep tabs on things. It’s just that I’m going to stop preaching for a little while and just listen to what others have to say. I’m going to try and see things from other people’s perspective. Heck, the roads do need paving. I don’t really trust Mayor England but maybe there’s a way that we could pave the roads in a responsible way. Finally, I promise not to get up and speak at the city council meetings for the next three months. I’m just going to listen. I encourage others to listen too. Then maybe, just maybe, we can all sit down and have a beer together.

Vicki

Anonymous said...

Vicki, thank you for sharing. It takes a lot of courage to admit you were wrong and I admire you for that. We all admire your dedication and commitment to New Albany. City Hall isn’t going to be the same without you. We all look forward to getting together soon and having many serious discussions about your city’s many serious problems. We’re all in this together.

Dear "Vicki",

I know Vicki Denhart did NOT write those comments. CFA is not just one person there are several members such as Jackie who are real people. Since Vicki does not drink beer I cannot imagine her drinking at one of Roger's establishments.

I allow anonymous postings because some people need to hide their identity for whatever reason and I respect that. What I don't respect are people who use someone else's name.

Before everyone goes off on me, yes I know the "professor" of FOS is not real but they are not using a real person's identity either. I'm sure Brad and Vicki did not appreciate being used in this manner.

Anonymity enables irresponsibility. If you are not accountable for your statements, you will not be careful in making sure your statements are true.

Shirley, YOU help spread untrue statements. You do this by allowing anonymous postings.

How does anonymity “protect” anyone posting here? Does Mayor England run a mafia ring that breaks peoples’ kneecaps? From who or what are they protected? We already know who posts most of these statements.

If you want to help elevate the dialogue, you will end anonymous posting on this site. If you want to keep dragging down the level of debate, keep on keeping on.

This city has too many real problems to waste time with the unsubstantiated crap you allow on this blog.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or perhibiting the free exercise thereof, or abriding the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It means the government or bully's cannot interfere with my right to speak my mind, to assembly together or to form a group.

I think the first amendment is the best piece of law ever written.

It limits the power of the government (federal, state and local) and bully's from coercing my beliefs or forcing me to support someone else's opinions, ideas or thoughts and my beliefs.

I think it is the freedom of thought and speech that is the basis of all other freedoms.

Thank You Shirley, for allowing our voices to be heard and a place to vent our opinions.

Anonymous said...

Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech...

We know what the Bill of Rights says. Do you know what it does NOT say?

CFA and its crack team of low bid attorneys have mistaken the First Amendment's guaranty of free speech as somehow being relevant here. It's not relevant to the issues discussed. Just quoting code section or ordinance or lines from the Constitution doesn’t mean you know what they mean or how they apply to a particular case.

The First Amendment does NOT protect you from making criminal threats. That speech never has been protected. If someone implied I'm a copperhead and then says my head will be cut off, the First Amendment will not save you.

Second, the First Amendment only applies to laws passed by Congress. Read it. It does not mention other people.....just Congress. It does not apply to defamation suits brought by private individuals. If something defamatory is written here or anywhere else, the defamed individual had the right to sue and subpoenaing blog records to trace IP addresses to individual users. Just because Congress doesn't pass a law doesn't mean a court won't enforce an action by a (non-Congress) individual. Also, Shirley does with her blog is NOT an act of Congress. She can make her own rules. Even if she were to do the responsible thing and disallow anonymous postings, Vicki has the right, and always will have the right, to write letters to the editor, maintain her own blog and protest on sidewalks. The Constitution does not require Shirley to allow anonymous posts.

Get it? Somehow I doubt it.

Roger, those guys signing the Declaration didn’t invent rumors about George III. They knew what they were talking about, were responsible in their utterances, and could logically defend their utterances when called to account.

Again, FOS/CFA does not support accountability for itself just as it does not support accountability for the common council.

It’s comical that someone would use the Constitution to defend their right to effectively support unconstitutional districting by the common council.

CFA/FOS, are you for the constitution or not?

If you are, then when will I read your position on redistricting on FOS? When will Vicki stand up and scold Dan Coffey and Steve Price for going against the constitutional protection of “one man, one vote” instead of the unevenly lopsided districting we have now?

Every time I've been to Bank St., the place has been packed, standing room only. I think Roger knows something about business that other downtown merchants don't know. True, the food's not as cheap as White Castle, but there's value in a quality product. Sometimes value sells. Sometimes people are willing to pay more to get higher quality. Successful businesspeople know that. Unfortunately, some not-so-successful business people on the city council don't.

Roger, the proof is in the beer if not the pudding: You know how to run a business. Non-business people on the city council should take your advice!

She may well be a nice person, but she does not allow rebuttal to her regurgitated literary bile over on FOS.
She claims to recieve hundreds and thousands of emails in support, but never produces a single credible one to back up her claims.
These actions complete destroy any form of true trust, credibility, reliability, and does little to prop up the claim that its for the little people, even more so when 98% of her "supporters" on the blog circle are always anonymous.
A couple of points:
1 Has "eric/erica ever been photographed or logged in on any of the council meetings minutes?

I believe the record will show that I never raised the issue of the LOIT tax in the first place.

Someone (anonymous) made the claim that CFA (which has yet to be defined) defeated the LOIT tax. Someone else, also anonymous, contested this, and subsequently, the f-bombs started dropping.

I'm yawning.

First, it is the responsibility of the party making a positive claim to provide the proof for it.

Second, on a claim like this one, proof is impossible. My personal view is that LOIT was defeated because of the craven cowardice of the county council, not because of the activity of an organization that has yet to provide any evidence of its existence.

I might as well say that my prayers directly caused Barack Obama's election to the presidency. Try proving (or disproving)that. You can't, because it's just as nonsensical as the sentence "CFA stopped LOIT."

Neither can the anonymous f-bomber "prove" anything, nor would he or she take me up on my $500 offer (to "prove" CFA matters) even if there were such a thing as proof.

Why? Because the mask would have to come off, and taking of the mask would require integrity -- that most elusive concept here in the Open Air Museum.

If you or anyone else want to continue this discussion, it's not any secret who or where I am. I stand out in the open.

You? You hide. Case closed.

Shirley,

This is not a person attack against Vicki. This is an attack on the counterproductive and unhelpful style of “activism” exercised by Vicki. It doesn’t matter how hard she works since she goes about her work in the wrong way.

It is wrong to suggesting to people that you’re part of a larger organization that in fact does not exist. It is wrong whether done any Vicki or anyone else.

It is wrong to try and pass yourself off as a college professor or any other type of expert when you are not such an expert. On complicated matters, people rely on expert opinions. It is wrong to try and trick people into relying on your opinion by claiming expert knowledge. It is wrong whether done any Vicki or anyone else.

Spreading false information about public officials is wrong. FOS contains many factually inaccurate statements. The author does not fact check. We don’t know whether the author just does not understand the different between opinion and fact, or whether those statements are deliberately inaccurate. Since FOS does not allow comment, there is no good forum to discuss. It seems that the Freedom to Speech does not extend to those not writing for the FOS blog. That is wrong whether done any Vicki or anyone else.

This is not person. This is one little person, one New Albany citizen, who wants to see accountability in government AND from those who criticize government. The best government is had when there is honest discussion from all sides. Vicki has not been honest and responsible in her actions and she should be held to account.

I’ll give anyone reading $1000 if they prove that Vicki is not an alien.

Money may be picked up at the joint Coffey-England-Price RICO tainted slush fund being investigated by the CIA. The money’s buried under the “E” at the end of the “WELCOME” rocks.
