It was a fun time for everyone, good fellowship and great desserts.
Several of the candidates were there and gave a short talk, and talked with each of us individually.
- Sam Locke, a very busy man, is having a bowling fundraiser next Wednesday 9/29 at Hoosier Lanes, 7:00.
- Shane Gibson has been going door to door and has a couple of commercials showing on local TV stations.
- Jim Frieberger and Dan Voyles have been campaigning in their districts for the County Council.
- Patty Walker is having a hat show/fundraiser at the Division St. School, this Saturday 9/25.
- Chuck Frieberger was not present but his campaign manager was. I asked where Chuck stood on the tolls for the bridges and his answer was a resounding NO TOLLS. Chuck sensibly believes that it is unfair to ask Kentuckiana residents to pay for bridges when the funds are already in place, besides who can afford to pay $6.00 a day just to go to work?
- Vop Osili, candidate for Secretary of State will be at Schad & Schad Law Firm offices tomorrow 5:30 to 7:30 for a meet and greet.
Stacy Deck, VP of the Floyd County Central Committee, believes that we have a great slate of candidates and I agree.
We need to support these people with our votes and donations &/or volunteering if possible. But most importantly our votes.

Shirley, what about the other candidates? We know that Shane Gibson and Chuck Freiberger have publicly taken a no tolls stance.
Do you think the Democratic Party as a whole has this view?
I know the majority of citizens in New Albany are against the tolls and, of course, the City Council voted in a Resolution against the tolls. Although I did not ask each candidate individually I am pretty sure they agree with the rest of us.
Thanks. One Southern Indiana has released its first ever candidate endorsements: One Southern Indiana, the supposedly "non-partisan" economic development entity, has released its first-ever list of candidate endorsements.
Ed Clere and Ron Grooms, who've refused to answer questions about tolling existing bridges to pay for the ORBP boondoggle, are among them. http://tiny.cc/lswg8
That's good news for Shane and Chuck!
Shane would say anything to get elected. But hey, if he's blaming Clere for the closing of schools he lost my vote.
Shane is not blaming Clere for the school closings. He is running a positive campaign.
Did you eat a bowl of stupid for breakfast, Shirley?
Or did you slip a few drops of Gibson's kool aid in your coffee.
Shirley, it's better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
Baird is a sure bet to lose next year just like the rest of the Doug England slate, do yourself a favor Baird dont run unless you are a glutton for humiliation, dont worry though when you all lose Baylor will be having a swill beer party to console the rest of the losers, oh wait with the tolls on the bridge all Baylors louisville snob patrons wont come over here, well see ya at Hugh Birs

You sure are afraid that I am going to run, why?
BTW I am not on Doug England or any one else's "slate" and I have never been to Hugh Bir's and I don't drink beer domestic or imported.
Hey Shirley,
I will vote for Doug and his whole slate! I also know a lot of other people that will as well. Good luck, if you do decide to run! I think Doug has done a lot of good stuff for New Albany and really does love New Albany.
only thing doug loves is himself and power, the voters will show how much they love him i mean loathe him in 2011, care to drink his kool aide baird?
I'm pretty sure the Kool-Aid Man does not like his drink being spelled kool aide. "Oh Yeah!"
Shirley, I know Voyles supports the new LOIT Tax. This is a hot issue with me as are the tolls.
England is trying to upset the County Council so he can get the LOIT tax passed. Can you let us know how the other candidates feel about this? Thanks!
I'll ask around.
Shirley said "BTW I am not on Doug England or anyone else's "slate"
It sounds as if you are endorsing only democrats, then you must be on some type of slate.
Isn't it best to vote for the candidate and not the party?
