"I HAVE NO PLANS TO RESIGN"

Those were the words John Wilcox used when I asked him about all of the rumors about he and the rest of the Central Committee.

I had asked other members previously but had not had the chance to ask John until last night. I was not able to speak to Sam Locke but John said Sam had not expressed any desire to quit either. John went on to say that next year's election should run more smoothly since only local candidates will be running and national issues will not play a big part. He added that people tend to get more involved with local elections.

We discussed how difficult it is to find people willing to help with campaigns. I must admit that I am guilty in that respect also. There is much more that I could have done had I taken the time. But I cannot fault the Central Committee. Those people worked their buns off this year.

Being a member of the Central Committee is an unpaid and (I'm sure) a thankless job. No matter to which party a person belongs.

How's Wilcox going to run England's campaign and be democrat central chairman?

John Wilcox is a terrible party chairman. He should not have endorsed Doug England for Mayor again. Most loyal Democrats do not want England and Malyase to run again because they are corrupt.

Wilcox must take full responsibility for the Democratic losses in Floyd. The party cannot risk the same consequences in the city races. Wilcox needs to go.

We need new leadership in the party and in the Mayor's office. This city is tired of England and his band of old crooks.

Democrats posing as Republicans is never a good idea. The Republicans are far better at being fascists, because they actually are, and the Democrats come off looking like Kochertian wannabeens.

John did not tell me if he will be running Mayor England's campaign but if he does, it will be up to him to stay as chair or step down.

I disagree about him being a terrible party chair. In this recent election no one could have changed the outcome. It was the year of the Republicans and there is nothing that John or anyone else could do about it.

A friend just told me that Lloyd Wimp has passed away.

I want to express my sympathy for the Wimp family. Lloyd was a good and kind person and he will be missed by everyone who's life he touched.

John Wilcox HAS TO RESIGN IN ORDER TO RUN ENGLAND'S CAMPAIGN. I don't care what he told you.

And, no, he can not stay as Party Chairman and run England's campaign. That's a fact.

John Wilcox is an AMAZING person and Doug England and Carl Malyse are doing amazing things for New Albany. Have any of you negative people ever opened your eyes and looked around? Great things are happening. Quit being go bitchy. I think some of you just type to see yourself type. They have my vote, and I know a lot of people that feel the same way. I guess we will see. :)

Then you must not know a lot of people.

John Wilcox amazing? Do you know how little money the Central Committee has in their coffers?

You might want to rethink your post. The party is broke, we got slaughtered in the last election, and now the dope wants to back England for re-re-re-re-election.

The whole group needs to retire. England has done nothing for this city. He tries to claim responsibility for activity down town. That's a joke. We all know the YMCA made that happen. England had nothing to do with it, in fact he opposed the Y.

England, Malayse, Wilcox, Jenkins, Maddingly, Coachran, and the rest of the rotten bunch need to take a hike. We need new leadership. Paul Etheridge is the party's best hope.

It is amazing you can name all those people and spell nearly every name wrong.

Hi Shirley.

Do you remember when we were painting our house on E Main Steet and the City tried telling us what color we could paint it and what a hassle it was? Well, tonight Price was called a liar and said it never happened; they were worried about paint chips.

On my old blog Fiscally Conserv Democrat, you told me your husband said we should just go ahead and paint it polk a dots. That was so funny, I laughed and laughed. But, I thought I would let you know that very subject was brought up I guess in a committee tonight. Too funny. A polk a dotted house (what a hoot)! Y

damn right get rid of that hack preservation commission, just another tool for baylor and his idiot followers to rule their fallen empire, twang that baylor. Oh and Etheridge is no answer either he is completely incompetent. The Dems might as well turn the keys over to the Republicans if its England vs Etheridge.

I feel badly for both sides of the Historic Preservation issue. There will be a column devoted to this tomorrow.

If you do a column on that subject please remember the old Maytag Dry Cleaners and how THEY DID NOT HAVE TO PLAY BY THE RULES. You can't even tell what that building was.

And, maybe you can explain where the downtown historic district is, say bounded by Main over to blah, etc. Main St's is from 4th down to about 12th and the south side of Market. But we don't know where the exact downtown markers are.

Thanks for the info up front.

It will be hard for them (HP) to now explain the attempted extoration from bisoness owners downtown. I'm with Price, desolve HP.

Yes, I do live in an apartment. And no, I am not an expert on preservation. Nor have I ever claimed to be.

But I am a citizen of New Albany and have always loved this city.

Tell you the truth, even thought I was raised democrat my whole life, I think it woult be better if the whole democrat party just retuired and turned it all over to the repbulicans for awhile. Were all enemies all the time and talking bad about each other and I'm sick and tired of it all the time and I wish we could just start over so thats why I think we should just let the repbulicans mess it up for awhile. Even they would'nt mess up the stuff like we do and their not crooks the way some of them are in the democrat party to.

Too bad Wilcox won't resign. Watching him try to prop up Gibson as any kind of serious candidate what was amazing. I had to listen to Gibson the other day and he is clueless. Why are we paying him $150K/yr? Wilcox needs to step down if he can't encourage better candidates than this to run for office.
